Runcorn borders our base in Sunnybank Hills, and Eight Mile Plains and Robertson are only a few minutes further north. For the people we support here, that usually means short travel times for workers, more flexibility with visit times, and a team that knows the area well.
Support that fits around a busy household
Many people in these suburbs live with family, and support has to fit around school runs, work and everyone else’s week. We plan visits around your routine rather than ours, whether that is personal care before the day starts, help with the house mid-week, or an outing on the weekend.
Getting around without a car
These suburbs have better public transport than most of Brisbane, with the Beenleigh line at Runcorn and the South East Busway at Eight Mile Plains. That makes them a good place to build independence. Our daily living and life skills support includes travel training: practising a route with you, step by step, until you are confident to make the trip on your own.
When driving is the better option, our workers can take you to appointments, to the shops at Garden City or Sunnybank, and to the activities you enjoy.
A diverse community
Eight Mile Plains, Runcorn and Robertson are among the most culturally diverse suburbs in Brisbane, with many families who speak Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean or Vietnamese at home. Our own team speaks Urdu, Hindi, Dari, Hazaragi and Persian as well as English. If language or culture matters in who supports you, tell us at the first meeting and we will take it into account when we match you with a worker. For any other language, the Translating and Interpreting Service can call us for you on 131 450.
